The Connecticut Green Building Council announces our First Annual Awards! Get ready for your walk down the “green carpet.”


Don’t be modest. Share your green building success with us. If your new or renovated building has been operating for at least one year, you can apply.
 

Complete a quick and easy online application at http://www.ctgbc.org/awards_submit.htm.
All award applications must be filed online by May 12th. There is no fee to apply.

The four basic categories are:

• Most Intriguing Residence
• Most Intriguing Commercial Structure
• Most Intriguing Public Building
• Most Appealing Submission

Of course, intriguing and appealing includes environmental attributes such as energy efficiency, wise resource use, and thoughtful site design among others.

The prizes will be a plaque for the Winners and certificates for Citations.

The awards will be presented at a CTGBC luncheon on June 5th. The location will be the Peabody Museum at Yale University in New Haven.

The Challenges and Opportunities of Going Green: The Case of Kroon Hall
This lecture series will create an educational forum for dialogue and exchange regarding the decision to create a sustainably designed facility using Kroon Hall at the Yale School of Forestry and Environmental Studies as a case study. The lecture series will inform students, faculty, staff, and the public on the challenges and processes when a university decides to go green. This series will further reveal how this decision helped transform the school and the university, and how the building’s design seeks to set new sustainability standards.

The tour/seminars will take place on Saturday afternoon May 17 at 12 noon, 1:30 and 3:00 at Dental Associates in Farmington.

This event is a special invitation to all offices and building owners. We especially encourage all health professionals who either own their own buildings or can work with the owners of their building to produce clean grid-tied solar electricity. PACE believes that clean energy is synonymous with an improved health environment.

The tour/seminars are sponsored by PACE and co-sponsored by the Connecticut Clean Energy Fund. The event will include experts from the Clean Energy Fund, the Connecticut Green Building Council, Solar Works and a dentist from the office.
