    The summer hiatus was kicked off with our 2nd Annual Member Reception at the Norwalk Maritime Aquarium. This year we had 2 expert speakers to give brief presentations on their specialties and sustainability within the marketplace. Justin Hall-Tipping, of NanoHoldings LLC of Rowayton asks: "What if some of the answers to our biggest problems could be found in the smallest places? We can do better undefined with exquisite control over a building block of matter, the stuff of life: the electron." Using nanotechnology, Justin Hall-Tipping begins to answer his own question through research and importance of nanotechnology-based energy solutions. Robin Stein chairs the Connecticut Siting Council and has done extensive work with the city of Stanford executing their master plan and updating their sustainability initiatives – including Sustainable Stamford. Robin is a wealth of knowledge and a great resource for local planners and developers to follow.

    The month of May held another tour of a local LEED certified space sited at 40 Danbury Rd. in Wilton, CT. Davis Marcus Partners (DMP) hosted the SCTGBC for an honest and realistic view on developing LEED Core & Shell properties in Fairfield Co. David Fiore of DMP and Paul Shafer of Viridian EE presented the sustainable measures DMP installed as well as some the obstacles they faced.
